Round 2 · Daily Life

A Day at Broadway Bound

Theatre training, ensemble work, and joyful chaos with choreography.

Typical Day Includes

  • Acting classes
  • Vocal rehearsals
  • Dance & choreography
  • Theatre games
  • Character development
  • Scene work
  • Small-group instruction
  • Technical theatre experiences
  • Full cast rehearsals

As performances approach, rehearsal blocks become more production-focused.

Meals & Snacks

Students should bring their own lunch, snacks, and a refillable water bottle daily.

Some specialty days may include treats or celebrations, but please plan to send food every day.

Water Bottles

Bring a clearly labeled refillable water bottle daily. Hydration breaks are built into the camp day — because singing, dancing, and emotional monologues about friendship apparently require water. Who knew.

Dress Code

  • Comfortable clothes you can move in
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Jazz shoes (tan or black) for performances
  • Camp t-shirts handed out on Day 2

Shop kids jazz shoes →

The Checklist

What to Pack

Pack daily essentials in a clear bin so camp staff can easily access materials.

Bring Daily

  • Refillable water bottle
  • Lunch & snacks
  • Script
  • Pencil & highlighter
  • Dance shoes (Week 2)
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Positive attitude & willingness to participate

The Clear Bin Rule

All items should go inside a clear bin so camp staff can easily access materials for the students.

Recommended clear bin →

Label everything — especially water bottles. There is always a dramatic water bottle identity crisis by Day 3.

Please Don't Bring

  • Expensive valuables
  • Weapons or prop weapons
  • Distracting electronics
  • Excessive cash
  • Toys unrelated to camp

Phones should remain stored during camp hours unless approved by staff.

Round 3 · Health & Safety

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Active supervision, trained staff, and a Director of Health & Safety who has been with us since 2016.

Medical Information

Emergency and medical information is completed during registration. To update medical history, email info@novapa.org — updates will be documented and shared with our Director of Health & Safety.

Meet Katie Rivers

Director of Health & Safety. A Loudoun County theatre parent who has supported programs for many years, Katie has been part of Broadway Bound since 2016 — this is her 12th year with us. Her daughter attends the Institute of American Musical Theatre. Katie brings 30 years of experience working with youth and families.

Medication Policy

  • Must be clearly labeled
  • Turned in to the Director of Health & Safety
  • Accompanied by instructions/forms when needed
  • Students generally may not self-administer unless pre-approved

Allergies & Dietary

If there are any updates to your camper's allergies or dietary needs, please email info@novapa.org so we can document and accommodate.

Staff & Supervision

Our staff includes theatre educators, directors, choreographers, music directors, teaching artists, counselors, and interns. All staff training covers safety expectations, supervision, and emergency procedures. Ratios are structured to maintain active supervision and instructional support.

When to Keep Your Camper Home

  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Contagious illness symptoms
  • Severe illness

Please notify the office for any absence.

Round 4 · Communication

Staying Connected

How We'll Reach You

For urgent situations, families are contacted immediately using emergency contact information. Parents are also notified about injuries, significant behavioral concerns, medical situations, or major emotional concerns.

How to Reach Us

Phone: 571-571-2120
Email: info@novapa.org

Administrative support is generally available during standard daytime business hours throughout the summer.

Reaching Your Camper

Please contact the camp office for urgent matters rather than contacting students directly. Please refrain from contacting campers during the day — it can be disruptive to the rehearsal process and overall camp experience.

Photos & Updates

Rehearsal photos, camp highlights, performance updates, and reminders are shared via Email, Social media, the BAND app, and our parent communication systems.

Daily photos are uploaded to our SmugMug gallery →

Performance Prep

Costumes & Modesty Garments

Helping students feel comfortable, confident, and performance-ready on stage.

Families May Be Asked to Provide

  • Black dance shorts
  • Nude or skin-tone undergarments
  • Black leggings
  • Plain black tank tops
  • Nude camisoles
  • Nude or black sports bras (age-appropriate)
  • Seamless undergarments
  • Character shoes, jazz shoes, or appropriate socks

Specific costume requirements will be communicated by each production team closer to performances.

Why Modesty Garments Matter

  • Ensure student comfort and privacy
  • Support quick costume changes backstage
  • Maintain costume integrity under stage lighting
  • Allow performers to move safely and confidently
  • Prevent visible undergarments during performances

Because backstage quick changes move fast, and "where did my shoe go?" becomes a very real theatrical emergency.

Important Notes

  • All modesty garments should be clearly labeled
  • Arrive at performances already wearing required base layers when possible
  • Costumes should not be altered at home unless instructed by the costume team
  • Families experiencing financial hardship should contact the production team privately

Broadway Bound is committed to a respectful, supportive, age-appropriate costume experience for all students.

Round 8 · The Big Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions parents ask us constantly — answered.

When do performance tickets go on sale?

Tickets go on sale June 1, 2026 at novapa.booktix.com.

Will my child get a speaking role?

We strive to provide all students with a part that will help them grow. Sometimes that includes a speaking role, sometimes a singing solo, sometimes a dance solo. Every student will be in the show and have comparative stage time.

Campers will be busy throughout the day as teachers split casts into different groups to rehearse different parts of the show.

Do they really need jazz shoes?

Yes — for uniformity and neutrality on stage. Tan or black work; you can grab a pair here.

Why is my camper singing in the shower now?

Of course they are! You might know the music just as well as them by opening night.

How do you handle homesickness?

Broadway Bound emphasizes community, encouragement, ensemble support, and confidence-building. Our staff work carefully with students adjusting to camp environments.

Is there an orientation or welcome event?

Families typically receive:

  • Welcome emails the night before camp
  • Orientation information
  • First-day procedures
  • Digital handbooks

All shared prior to camp beginning.

Tips for first-time camp families?
  • Label everything
  • Arrive on time
  • Expect students to be tired and excited
  • Read communication emails carefully
  • Trust the process

Theatre camps are joyful chaos with choreography.

What makes Broadway Bound special?

Broadway Bound combines high-level theatre training with a deeply supportive community environment where students are encouraged to grow artistically, socially, and personally while creating meaningful performance experiences together.

Tax ID / EIN for reimbursement?

Families needing tax documentation for reimbursement purposes may contact the administrative office at info@novapa.org.

Are there transportation options to camp?

Families are responsible for transportation to and from camp unless otherwise announced for specific events.

Can visitors come during camp hours?

For safety and instructional reasons, visitors are generally limited during camp hours.

Like what you see? It's not too late.

We still have availability for Summer 2026. Reserve your camper's spot today.
