Our teen company brings Anaïs Mitchell’s Tony Award–winning folk opera to the Loudoun Auditorium at the National Conference Center for a three-weekend run — ten performances across March.
Curtain times are released when tickets go on sale — doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets on sale soon; check back for details.
Rehearsals begin Monday, November 16, 2026.
Our Teen Conservatory company rehearses three weeknights (Monday, Thursday, Friday, 7:00–9:00 PM) and Saturday mornings (9:00 AM–1:00 PM) from November 16 through opening night.
In February, we add Sunday morning rehearsals (9:00 AM–1:00 PM) for full-company tech, sitzprobe, dress rehearsals, and final polish leading into our March run.
Not every character is called to every rehearsal. Each cast member receives an individualized schedule once roles are assigned. Principals will have more frequent calls than smaller ensemble tracks; the director will publish weekly call sheets so families can plan ahead.
Is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Corp.
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by Concord Theatricals.
“It’s a sad song… but we sing it anyway.”
Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone — Hadestown invites audiences on a journey to the underworld and back.
Inspired by the traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Anaïs Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical sets industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. It is a beautiful folk opera that delivers a deeply resonant, defiantly hopeful theatrical experience.
A gifted young musician, Orpheus risks everything to bring his love home from the depths of Hadestown — a story about hope, doubt, and the power of a song to change the world, told the way the world has been telling it for a very long time.
This Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation prepared by the original authors, with vocal arrangements transposed for younger voices and flexible, expandable ensemble casting — bringing the soul and spectacle of the Tony Award–winning musical to the NoVAPA stage.
A Tony Award–winning folk opera — reimagined for teen performers.
Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation prepared by the original authors for teen performers and family audiences. Language and staging related to substance use and the more mature references of the original production have been adjusted for this edition. The story still explores weighty themes — poverty, loss, and a journey to the underworld — with honesty and heart, and is generally recommended for ages 10 and up.
